...but ghost acting? Is that covered under ACTRA rules?

Hey, ripped Orlando was my idea. Okay, to replicate the conversation: it started with an author's note about a poll asking readers which Chevenga move would be coolest in a movie.

Well, heck, I actually meant to cancel putting up that poll because I wanted to do some more research to see if I could scare up more cool Chevenga moves (I forget what I've written all the time), and now I find that not only is it up, but three people have voted on it already so I can't even edit it. (His comeback against Riji? Is is that cool? Going back to read it.) Oh well. Carry on.

(When PA is a major motion picture, can James Cameron direct it, pretty please??)

I don't know if Chevenga's comeback against Riji is actually the coolest *looking*, but it sure was the most intensely written. "For mama for Yeol-a..." I don't remember it exactly, but that line sure stuck with me.

Of course, none of us actually know how any of those moves looked in the "video" of the story playing in your head.... Wink

And while we're speculating about the movie - what actors & actresses would you like? Chevenga would be the hardest to cast. Maybe some scifi fusion of Brad Pitt & Viggo Mortensen?

I've been trying to cast Chevenga for years, much handicapped by the fact that I'm not much of a movie-goer.

In terms of looks, there's Edilson Nascimento -- google and, straight ladies/gay gentlemen, be prepared to drool! -- but I don't know if he can act, and it's a role that requires a really good actor, imo. Someone with more range than Colin Farrell playing Alexander, for instance... he was good at trembling and weeping, but never came across as strong and psycho enough when it was called for, and the role requires both, as does Chevenga.

I spotted one who seems to be a dead ringer in this movie trailer: (link) -- he's the one backing up as the mob's ramming the gate, very short shot, alas. But I'm not sure who he is.

Brad Pitt doesn't have a very Chevengish face but he's pretty ripped and in _Troy_ at least he was pretty convincing with the moves. Much depends on the fight choreographer, of course. Viggo M was a pretty intense Aragorn in _LoTR_ as I (vaguely) recall, and intensity is necessary (that's what Colin Farrell didn't have as Alexander!)

I once thought of Tom Cruise, because of his eyes, but he's got kind of long in the tooth and, um, touched in the head.

Orlando Bloom, if he bulked up a little, maybe...

But casting some other characters is easy. Niku: Halle Berry. Or Grace Jones minus a few years. Iliakaj: forgot his name, the guy who played Jake Sully in Avatar. Kallijas: Philip Winchester (though he's a bit old, again). Koree: Russell Crowe. Since it's a James Cameron sf movie, Sigourney Weaver has to be there, so let's cast her as Karani

Jodie Foster as Steel-Eyes Emao-e? Or Demi Moore (I'm thinking of that G.I. Jane movie she did)?

A bulked Orlando Bloom as Chevenga... hmm... :pauses to wipe away the drool: I can see it, except I dunno if he could do the torture/psycho stuff, like when Chevenga goes kickass-bananas on his Mahid guards in the Mezem. Oooh! A good pic of an Orlando-who-could-be-Chevenga: (link).

And wow, I see what you mean about that guy in the movie trailer. Right at 1:12 minutes, he's just short a few scars.

Y'know, a young Leo DiCaprio might work for Skorsas...

Yeah, I saw that pic of OB when I was casting about, so to speak, also. I found another one somewhere that looked even more like C that I was going to photoshop into an absolute dead ringer when my life got taken over by writing.

But, yes, torture/psycho is necessary. Whoever plays C has to be able to do that as well as smile a Barack Obama smile and cry Colin Farrell-as-Alexander tears. And also be quietly intense. And occasionally snide. It's a challenging role.

Leo diCaprio as Skorsas? Hmmmm... I know one thing, whoever plays him must be drop-dead gorgeous. That's an absolute requirement. There's a guy whose face we use as an avatar in RPs but I dont' know if he can act.

Jodie Foster or Demi Moore for Emao-e? I wouldn't have thought of either of them. She doesn't look that much like a... well, movie star.
