Character chats

In case people want to discuss how a character chat went, I've set it up as a topic here.

One thing that struck me with the last character chat (Jan. 30, set in the time post-asa kraiya, starring Chevenga, with Kaninjer, Niku, Surya and the twin babies making appearances), the last one in particular, is that my readers are intelligent, erudite and interested in larger issues. I guess it stands to reason, but still... whenever you put your creative work, whatever it is, out into the world, you wonder what sorts of people it will attract, and whether you, em, really want to be associated with them. Well, I do. I'm happy about the kinds of people who like my work. You guys rock.

You impress the hell outta me

Hey Karen

I really enjoyed that chat, even though I felt guilty that I was only 3/4 of the way through ak at the time and was not up on all of the issues.

I read your dead-tree versions back in 1993 when my girlfriend thrust the 5th millenium series into my hands and told me that I HAD to read 'em. She was right.

That was Blue btw, and we are still together. 17 years next month.

Your work was life-changing then, both yours and Shirley's books amazed me.

Your current revision is even better, and you should know that it is challenging a lot of my assumptions about myself and my view of others. I feel like your depiction of therapy is -- gah! words fail me on describing how it is working on my thoughts of myself and my relationships.

Anyway. Thanks. Thank you for writing about queer folk, writing about violence, conflict, and magic. Thank you for making yourself tell the stories you need to tell, because I need to read 'em.
