Cecilia Tan's _Daron's Guitar Chronicles_ wins R&B for fiction
Tell the truth, since the Rose & Bay Awards are by popular choice, I didn't think I stood a chance with heavy hitters like MeiLin Miranda and Alexandra Erin in the running.
Still, it was an honour to be nominated at all -- only 20-odd works were, out of hundreds on the Net -- so thanks again to Valdary for that. PA received enough votes to make a respectable showing.
Thanks very much to all who voted for it.
Because Cecilia's work was getting so many votes I went and checked it out. Her writing is professional-quality and very smooth, and she obviously has all sorts of insider knowledge of the rock and roll world. Set in the 80s, it's about a young rock guitarist trying to make his way and his name. I recommend it. Congrats to her.
I hope to be a contender in next year's Rose & Bays!

What a nice thing to do. ^_^ I might look at it one day.
I suspect you draw a fandom of deeper quality, however, even if popularity votes obscure that.

Thanks, GreenGlass
Though Shirley and I seem to do okay on Top Web Fiction. I think that's in part because votes have to be renewed daily, and we post five days a week (which is more than anyone else) and have the link up top, and some of our readers have gotten into the habit of voting when they visit. As we gain readers we'll start dominating there, which is good, because maybe it will make people doubt that awful review.
